your food log, built into Claude

Snap your plate.
It's logged.

Send a food photo to Claude and say “log this”. It works out what's on the plate and saves it to your food log. Then open the app to see your weeks, your weight, and what your body actually needs.

How it works

No new app to learn and no food database to search through. You talk to your AI the way you already do.

1

Connect once

Add calories.food as a connector in Claude (or ChatGPT or Gemini), then sign in with your email. It takes about a minute.

2

Snap and send

Send a photo or just describe the meal. Your AI splits it into items, estimates portions, and asks if something's unclear.

3

Look back anytime

Ask “how did I do this week?” or open your history to see any day, even last year. Fix portions whenever you like.

Your food log,
not a chat history

Chats get lost. calories.food keeps every meal in one place that all your AI apps can read and add to.

  • Calories and macros for every item: protein, carbs and fat.
  • Consistent numbers. Your AI reuses what you logged before for the same food.
  • Daily goals and what's left for today.
  • History by day, week, month or year, going back as far as you've logged.
  • Use more than one AI. Log from Claude on your phone and Gemini or ChatGPT on your laptop, all into one account.
  • We don't keep your photos. We store only the food names and numbers.

Know what your body needs

Your log isn't just a list of meals. The app turns it into numbers you can act on, and gets more accurate the more you use it.

kg

Weight and measurements

Tell Claude “I weighed 79 kg” or “my waist is 86 cm”. Add body fat from a scale, or estimate it from a tape measure, so a muscular or broad frame isn't judged by BMI alone.

≈

Your daily needs

Maintenance calories, a target to lose, keep or gain at the pace you choose, and matching protein, carbs and fat. It uses your lean mass when body fat is known.

28

Learns your real number

After a few weeks of logging food and weighing in, it works out your actual maintenance from what you ate and how your weight moved, instead of a formula's guess.

Questions

the honest answers
Which AI apps work with it?

Claude works best, including logging from its iPhone and Android apps. ChatGPT works on chatgpt.com with Developer mode (paid plans, web only). Gemini works only in the US for now. Claude Code, Gemini CLI and other apps that support remote MCP servers can connect too. Compare and set up.

Do I need a paid AI plan?

Custom connectors are available on some plans and not others, and this changes over time. Check your AI app's current connector settings. calories.food itself doesn't charge anything right now.

How are my calorie targets worked out?

At first from standard formulas (Mifflin–St Jeor, or Katch–McArdle when your body fat is known) using your height, weight, age and activity. Once you've logged food and weighed in for a few weeks, the app learns your real maintenance from your own data. Targets never go below safe minimums, they're guidance rather than medical advice, and they're shown only in the app.

How accurate are the calories?

They're estimates made by your AI from the photo or description. Portion size is the biggest source of error, so tell your AI if a portion looks off and it will correct the entry. calories.food isn't a medical device and isn't medical advice.

Do you look at my photos?

No. The photo goes to your AI app, not to us. We only receive what your AI sends when it logs a meal: food names, portions, calories and macros. See the privacy policy.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, all of it, anytime. See how to delete your account.
