Terms of service

These terms apply when you use calories.food, including through an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. By using it, you agree to them.

The service

calories.food stores a food log for you: meals, portions, calories and macros that you or your connected AI apps record. It's free to use at the moment. We may add paid features later, and we'll tell you before anything you use starts costing money.

Not medical advice

Calorie and nutrition values are estimates, usually made by your AI app from a photo or description, and they can be wrong. calories.food isn't a medical device and doesn't give medical, dietary or health advice. Talk to a qualified professional before making health decisions, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating.

Your account

• You sign in with an email address you control. Keep access to that inbox secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
• You must be at least 16 years old.
• You're responsible for what you and the AI apps you connect log to your account.

Your data

Your food log belongs to you. You let us store and process it only to run the service for you and the apps you connect. You can delete it at any time. See the privacy policy.

Acceptable use

Don't try to access other people's data, disrupt or overload the service, get around sign-in or rate limits, or use it for anything illegal. We may suspend accounts that do.

AI apps are separate

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI apps are run by other companies under their own terms. We're not responsible for what they say or do, including the estimates they make.

Availability and changes

We work to keep calories.food running, but it's provided "as is", without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. We may change or stop features. If we ever shut the service down, we'll give you notice and a way to export your data first.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made based on the estimates in your log. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

Ending

You can stop using calories.food and delete your account anytime. We may close accounts that break these terms.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, email you before they take effect.
